Thank you for visiting us today for your Aqualyx treatment. At Elegant Beauty Clinic we pride ourselves on 5 star service and aftercare. It is important to follow the below guidelines in order for your results to look fabulous but also last as long as possible.
Many clients are concerned with having visible signs following Aqualyx® Fat Dissolving Treatment.
There are a few key steps you can take to help you both minimise visible bruising and swelling and to recover as quickly as possible. The more you follow these steps, the faster you will recover and the fewer signs will be visible.
Avoid any blood thinners (e.g alcohol, aspirin, Vitamin E, some herbal supplements) for 7 days prior and 7 days after treatment.
Take arnica tablets as follows; 2 tablets every 2 hours for 5 days prior to and post the treatment. The 30c potency are best.
Use a hot compress and lay over the area. Repeat several times, ideally every 2 hours if possible.
Apply arnica cream generously before going to bed, this will help resolve bruising.
Wearing a compression garment can help with the swelling (and results).
There might be redness, swelling or tenderness in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injections and will generally disappear within a few days.
The inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. If it continues or if other reactions occur, please call us. The results directly after treatment should not be seen as the final result.
Avoid touching the treatment area 6 hours after the treatment. After that time the area can be gently washed with soap and water, and light make-up can be applied in the case of the neck/jaw area after 24 hours.
Until the initial swelling has resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g sunbeams and sunbathing) or extreme cold.
If you experience persistent or increasing swelling and redness that might indicate infection, or bruising that is more than average, contact us for advice.
Allergy or infections can occur but thankfully are extremely uncommon. If you get a painful or itchy bump or swelling near an injection site please contact us immediately for a review.
Pending Necrosis: Though extremely rare needs immediate attention to prevent scarring. It is caused by filler of swelling disrupting the usual blood supply causing discolouration (pale or dusky coloured skin) usually associated with pain within the first few hours after a treatment. It can occur in many places, however, it requires an immediate return to clinic or if out of hours then please head straight to A&E.
Anaphylaxis: Though rare in the extreme, immediately after your treatment, if you were to start to feel generally unwell and develop swelling and redness around your face our clinicians are trained to recognise and deal with anaphylaxis. If you are no longer in the clinic 999 should be called for an urgent ambulance explaining your concern is anaphylaxis.
We are always on hand to help provide advice or information if you require so contact us on social media or on our booking phone line if required.
